Most of the time when this kind of leaking occurs out of the pole in the awning it is from the rain getting channeled into it through the outside grommets. If you can identify the grommet this is happening with, you can easily use some gorilla tape to go over the grommet, acting as a washer to keep the water from leaking down inside the pole/awning.
